Configuring Your Mobile Solar Lighting Trailer

Review these primary engineering decisions before locking in your heavy equipment order.

01

Select Your Ideal Telescopic Mast

Manual winches are very sturdy and can save costs when using them for material handling in an operational setting. If the worksite will need to be set up repeatedly or at a height of 9-10M, you may want to look at the use of pneumatic/automated masts (operated by air/mechanical) to allow for faster setup and less physical labour.

02

Optimize Battery Capacity

Gel batteries, typically at a moderate cost compared to other battery types, should be considered due to their excellent ability to withstand temperature variations while requiring limited maintenance. If you need batteries for an application that seeks fast acceptance charging rates, decreased overall weight, and extended cycle life, then Lithium (LiFePO4) deep-cycle batteries will give you high savings over the life of the battery.

03

Solar Panel Deployment

For lower-cost, single sliding mechanical panels with simple uses, you can deploy at a lower cost than what is usually necessary to deploy a solar array as you can deploy them expeditiously with Quicker Deployment and Auto-Hydraulic Expansion Capable of Providing Max Surface-Area Exposure of Cooler Operating Mono-Crystalline Solar Cells through an Easy Way of Deploying Than Independently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does a solar light tower run on a single charge?

A: When calculating how long your fully charged battery will last you, there are two important items to think about: 1) what type of battery pack you have (AA, AAA, Lithium Ion, etc.), and 2) what is the wattage of the LED lamp(s) you will be using. Under normal usage conditions (15 – 40 hours of continuous usage), you should generally receive enough lighting from 1 fully charged battery pack for 2 or 3 consecutive night shifts without having any access to enough sunlight during the daytime hours to recharge the batter(y)(ies).

Q: What is the maximum mast height of the mobile light tower?

A: Your quest is at an end! We have a variety of options available to suit every demand and requirement; our standard models can be customised up to a design height of 9m and we have several engineers on hand to design and produce custom-engineered hydraulic light masts for any catastrophic event or application; the maximum height for engineered masts exceeds the maximum heights for Standard Models by more than twice the Standard Model. 10m!

Q: What is the cost difference between solar and diesel light towers?

A: There are a couple of differences between diesel-powered light towers and solar-powered light towers in regards to initial purchase cost. While the initial cost of a solar-powered light tower is typically more than a diesel-powered light tower, the operational savings gained from purchasing and using solar-powered light towers can be substantial for three reasons: 1)No fuel costs associated with purchasing, transporting, or delivering fuel to use in your operation, 2)No costs associated with performing oil changes or performing repairs to your diesel engine and 3)No costs associated with moving diesel fuel from one location to another. Therefore, most business-to-business customers see positive ROI within 12 months to 18 months after they purchase and install a solar mobile light tower.

Q: Can it withstand harsh weather on construction sites?

A: Absolutely. The trailer has been designed to accommodate LED flood lights, and due to its all-steel design, it comes equipped with both a powder coat finish that gives it corrosion resistance and stabiliser jacks (for wind stability) built within the trailer so that the vertical mast stays up and has adequate support during high winds.

Q: How much area does a mobile solar light tower illuminate?

A: High-lumen solar masts with the ability to reach 10 meters tall can use different versions of LED lighting; an example would be 200 watt 4 times. This means we can light up an area between 2,000 square meters and 5,000 square meters at one time providing adequate light for larger areas than standard construction sites, mining operations and major roadworks.

Q: Do solar light towers work in winter, rain, or overcast weather?

A: Yes, our lights have been developed to produce an environmentally friendly lighting solution that doesn’t depend upon energy supplied from the typical electrical grid. They are based on advanced solar technologies and use quality, mono-crystalline solar modules and advanced MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) charge controllers to allow for the continuous operation of these systems even in low-light conditions. With high-capacity deep cycle batteries, our off-grid lighting systems give you everything you need in order to perform your tasks quickly and efficiently at all times of the year, due to storing up to 3-5 days worth of backup power enabling you to have reliable illumination during prolonged periods of rain, cloudiness or winter weather.

Q: What is the lifespan of the batteries in a solar lighting trailer?

A: The lifespan of your battery will ultimately depend upon the chemistry of the battery selected. In most cases, the normal lifespan for a non-maintenance Free Gel deep cycle battery is between 3 and 5 years, which will vary depending upon the environmental conditions typical for most applications. However, if you upgrade to one of our premium Lithium Ion (LiFePO4) batteries, you’ll normally have a much longer operational life, (up to 10 years) and many more charge cycles, (thousands), which equates to significant savings in replacement costs over an extended period of time.

Q: How much does a towable solar light tower weigh, and how is it transported?

A: A typical mobile solar lighting system can weigh between 800 kg and 1200 kg depending on the capacity of the battery bank or whether the mast mechanism is manual or hydraulic. Mobile solar trailers are designed to be simple and easy to transport to different locations with a standard pickup truck or a commercial vehicle like a delivery van. In addition to other safety features for the mobile solar lighting systems, all mobile solar lighting system trailers that are intended for roadway towing must have standard tow hitches (2″ ball or 70 mm ring) as well as a maximum towing speed of 60 km/h.
