Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Airspace Lighting System
The Airspace Lighting System for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Operation is an illumination solution that provides runway and airfield lighting, identified drone landing zones, and night-time utility for UAV operation. Utilizing high output LED lighting fixtures, UAV lift platforms, generator or storage battery power, and remote-controlled functionality, the Airspace Lighting System is able to provide reliable lighting support to temporary airstrips, emergency landing zones, military operated UAV bases, and remote aviation resources.
This new ground-based lighting system provides an ample solution for UAV airspace lighting than traditional airport lighting systems that would generally take ages to install. With an LED lamp that can be positioned up to 100 metres high, it extends its effective base upto 100m, gaining adequate lighting for all aspects of air transport (including uncrewed aerial vehicles), including both the safety of all aircraft operating on or using the airport, to meet emergency response requirements by establishing lighting configurations for each phase of the mission. The ability to add optional features such as video monitoring, Bluetooth audio to each light location, and 4G location and detection make it equally usable for either aviation lighting or intelligent field lighting.

Proven Deployments – Where the UAV Airspace Lighting System Operates
| Sector | Real-World Case | Capability Delivered |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency Response | After severe flooding damaged local infrastructure, rescue teams deployed a UAV airspace lighting system near a temporary landing zone. The UAV lifted LED lamps above the site to illuminate rescue routes, drone landing areas, and emergency supply points. The system supported night UAV monitoring, boat guidance, and field coordination without relying on fixed airport lighting infrastructure. | Rapid emergency airfield lighting for rescue missions, drone landing zones, and low-visibility operations. |
| Remote Airstrips | A remote mining and exploration project required temporary runway lighting for UAV inspection and small aircraft support. The system provided LED runway lights from an elevated UAV platform, while the generator and battery options ensured continuous lighting during night operations in areas without grid power. | Portable airfield lighting solution for remote airstrips and off-grid aviation sites. |
| Military UAV Operations | During field training, a tactical UAV base used the airspace lighting system to create temporary runway guidance and landing zone visibility. The high-mounted LED lamp improved ground visibility, while remote control, 4G positioning, and detection options helped the team manage night UAV operations from a safe distance. | Tactical UAV night operation support with elevated lighting, remote control, and optional monitoring functions. |
| Airport Maintenance | A regional airport used the UAV lighting system during runway maintenance when part of the fixed airport runway lighting system was temporarily unavailable. The elevated LED lamp provided temporary illumination for inspection teams, aircraft ground support, and maintenance vehicles working at night. | Temporary runway lighting backup for airport maintenance, aircraft safety, and night inspection. |

OEM/ODM UAV Airspace Lighting System Manufacturing
Custom-Built UAV Lighting Solutions
The lighting systems used for uncrewed aerial vehicles in the airspace may vary depending on the type of environment it will be used in: airfield lighting, airport runways, drone landing zones, emergency response, temporary airport lighting and military uncrewed aerial vehicles performing night operations. Users are able to choose from a variety of items including: lamp wattage, number of lamps, type of generator, type of battery, output voltage, remote control features, package type and optional smart modules. The system is designed for those needing a portable airport lighting system without installing permanent lighting infrastructure.
How to Specify Your UAV Airspace Lighting System
The effectiveness of the system in providing airport lighting, UAVs for night operations and temporary runway protection will be determined by 3 key metrics.
LED Lamp Power & Lighting Coverage
Select the wattage for the LED lamp based on the size of the runway, airstrip, or drone landing zone. You would use a 50W or 100W LED lamp to light up compact fields; however, larger airports that require more illumination use 150W, 200W, or 300W for their runway lighting, as well as for emergency rescue locations or for night operations using UAVs. The quantity of lamps can be configured as 1, 2, or 4 depending on your desired coverage area.
Power System for Off-Grid Operations
Gasoline and Diesel generators as well as batteries can work together in this system. Batteries come in different capacities (5kWh, 10kWh, 15kWh, & 20kWh), with generator power ratings ranging from 1000W up to 10000W for either fuel source. If you need airfield lighting for an extended period of time, or will be operating on a remote runway, then choose a larger battery size, or a generator with a larger fuel tank.
Control Functions & Smart Integration
Operators have two ways to operate the UAV airspace lighting system: manually via a hand shank or remotely using an optional remote control. The advanced field operations capabilities of this equipment can also include the following features: video monitoring, Bluetooth transmitting and receiving, 4G positioning and detection capabilities. These additional features will provide the operator with more control while managing the landing zones for drones, temporary airport lighting systems, rescue areas, and night aviation support than previously possible when operating from a distance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a UAV airspace lighting system used for?
UAV (“unmanned aerial vehicle”) airspace lighting systems are designed to offer high-elevation LED airspace use (example: runway illumination) for an airport, and these systems can be used for more than just airport settings. Other examples include airfield lighting; drone landing zones; emergency rescue sites; temporary Airstrip, and Night UAV operations. The use of a mobile UAV airspace lighting system provides you with a method of providing high elevation illumination when a permanent lighting system does not exist, or a temporary lighting source is needed.
How high can the UAV lighting system lift the LED lamp?
Your lift can be up to 100 meters in height using our jacking system. Our elevated lighting design provides a larger illuminated area for higher visibility for runways, airstrips, ground support for aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) takeoff/landing, as well as in the use of emergency field operations.
What LED lamp power options are available?
The system can accommodate LED lamps that range from 50W to 300W in power. Users will select the number of lamps (from one to four) they need to properly meet the lighting needs of a given area according to the desired light output based on the type of application.
Can the system work without grid power?
The UAV aerial safety lights can utilize gas or diesel generators, or power can be stored in a battery source like a gel cell battery, LiFePO4 battery, lead acid battery or an AGM (absorbent gel mat) battery to provide electrical capacity ranging from a minimum of five kilowatt hours up to twenty kilowatt hours.
Is remote control available?
Indeed. The control system has both an optional Remote Control and a Control Panel with a hand shank on the operator’s side. The Remote Control provides users with greater flexibility to operate short-term runway lighting, UAV landing sites, emergency sites, and field activities while in a safer area than if they were standing at the Control Panel.
What optional functions can be added?
Optional features include video surveillance, Bluetooth audio transmission, 4G location tracking, and detection functions. Support for these features provides improved situational awareness, communication, location, and safe operational performance of the UAV lights during their mission.
Is this product suitable for airport runway lighting systems?
Yes, our system can be utilized as temporary/mobile runway lights for emergency landing zones, remote airstrips, as well as for maintenance and UAV operations. There are no restrictions to fixed airport infrastructure; they are portable and can quickly be deployed where mobile aviation lights are necessary.
